Defining Sexual Purity – You are sexually pure when no sexual gratification comes from anyone or anything except your wife.
Key Verse – “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people” (Ephesians 5:3).
Your objective in the war against lust is to build 4 perimeters of defense into your life:
- Bounce Your Eyes – train yourself to instantly look away from lustful images.
- Starve Your Mind – decide that lustful images are off limits – replace with thinking on good things (Phil. 4:8).
- Guard Your Heart – only allow pure conversation and deeds to flow from in and out of your true self rooted in Christ.
- Develop Deep Intimacy with Jesus – Do the basics well: spend time in prayer, read the Bible daily, worship, be faithful to attend church, get connected, etc.
If you fail, walk through the 5 steps to freedom.
- Repent – own it, confess it to God.
- Renounce – cut off all access to repeat the same sin.
- Break – Declare out loud a prayer to cut off the accusing of the enemy and to break any soul ties.
- Bless – Declare your true identity in Christ Jesus.
- Obey – Choose to obey Jesus in all things from this point forward.

Lord Jesus – thank you for the gift of sex – to be enjoyed within a godly marriage – I’m sorry for abusing this gift – outside of marriage and outside of your will – I repent of past sexual failures – I renounce my involvement in sexual immorality – I break the enemy’s power over me in this area – with your help – today I set up my defense perimeters – to bounce my eyes – to starve my mind of lustful thoughts – to guard my heart – I want to be sexually pure – from this day forth – I want to receive sexual gratification from nothing but my wife – thank you, Jesus, that in the place of sexual impurity – you are giving me clean hands and a pure heart – you are giving me the ability to make a covenant with my eyes – not to look lustfully at a girl – and to take all improper thoughts captive – I give my heart to Jesus – in Jesus’ name – amen!
